| - GRANITE CARE AND MAINTENANCE - |
| |
| For daily cleaning, we recommend Ivory Dish Soap. It is made
without animal fats, and it is free of dyes. Many other brands
contain fats, dyes and scents which will damage the stone. These
brands include Dove, Dawn and any antibacterial soap. |
| |
| To obtain a nice shine on your granite top, use a glass cleaner
that does not contain ammonia. Over time, ammonia can remove the
finish shine from your granite top. |
| |
| Please avoid using abrasive or highly acidic/alkaline detergents.
Be cautious when choosing a stone cleaner product, as some contain
petroleum or are made with an animal fat base, which may alter
the appearance of your granite top. These products can darken the
stone and leave a residue. This residue builds up over time and
will turn lighter granite tops yellow. |
| |
| Sealing Procedure |
| Sparingly spread liquid sealer over granite tops with a clean,
lint-free cloth. Let penetrate into stone for at least 5 minutes,
or until sealer has soaked into the stone. Repeat procedure until
film or haze appears on granite. Buff haze off with #0000 steel
wool. Do a water test; if water does not bead up, repeat above
procedure. |

| - QUARTZ CARE AND MAINTENANCE - |
| |
| Routine Care |
| Quartz requires very little maintenance. Simply
wipe your Quartz surface with soap and warm water on a regular
basis
to
maintain its beauty and shine for years to come. |
| |
| Difficult Spills |
| To remove difficult spills, wipe the surface with warm water
and soap. If needed, apply a common household cleaner. For stains
that harden as they dry, such as food and gum, remove by gently
scraping off of surface (using a blade or putty remover), and then
clean using warm water and soap. |
| |
| Extreme Heat Protection |
| Quartz is extremely resistant to heat, and can
withstand moderately high temperatures for brief periods of time
without
being damaged.
Although Quartz is more heat resistant than any other stone
surface, all stone can be damaged by sudden and extreme temperature
changes, especially near the edges. For this reason, we recommend
using a trivet or a hot pad to protect your Silestone surface from
extreme heat. |
| |
| Chemicals to Avoid |
| Avoid exposing your Quartz surface to strong chemicals
and solvents. Items to avoid include: nail polish remover, permanent
markers or inks, oil soaps, and furniture cleaners or paint strippers
that contain trichlorethane or methylene chloride. Also avoid exposing
your Quartz surface to chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels,
such as oven cleaners. |
| |
| General Precautions |
| Although Quartz is extremely scratch and heat resistant,
we recommend protecting your Quartz surface by using a hot pad
or trivet for extreme heat protection, and by using a cutting board
in order to avoid damage to your knives. |
